Welcome. I am Sena Elbasi, a Psychodynamic Psychotherapist and Qualified Counsellor based in London. Holding a Master’s degree in Psychodynamic Counselling & Psychotherapy from Goldsmiths, University of London, and as a Registered Member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy), my practice is deeply grounded in professional ethics and clinical excellence. I work integratively, drawing on both Psychodynamic Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to support my clients. My primary aim is to offer a warm, safe, and reflective space where you can explore your inner world without judgement. Together, we work to make sense of recurring emotional patterns and move toward meaningful change, fostering healthier and more grounded ways of relating to yourself and others.
In my clinical practice, I support adults navigating a wide range of challenges, including trauma, addiction, bereavement, anxiety, and relationship difficulties. My time at Change, Grow, Live (CGL) involved accompanying clients through complex emotional histories and challenging life transitions, which has shaped my ability to hold space for deep pain and recovery.
A significant part of my professional background is dedicated to sexual abuse awareness and psychoeducation. Through my work with World Human Relief and Psikopark, I have delivered workshops to students and educators focused on abuse prevention, emotional safety, and recognising psychological effects. These experiences have given me a nuanced understanding of the developmental impacts of abuse, as well as the essential conditions that support resilience and healing.
My commitment to wellbeing extends beyond the consulting room. My work with the International Migration and Refugee Association (IMRA) strengthened my expertise in supporting individuals coping with displacement, cultural adjustment, and migration-related stress. Additionally, as a co-founder of the HAVLE Women’s Association, I have been dedicated to creating inclusive, empowering spaces for women.
This diverse background is enriched by my research at Istanbul Bilgi University, where I explored the relationship between spirituality, religion, and depression. This academic foundation allows me to view mental health through a truly holistic lens, respecting the cultural, social, and spiritual dimensions of your life.
My work is grounded in psychodynamic therapy, a relational approach that looks beneath the surface of current difficulties to explore:
how early experiences shape emotional life
unconscious patterns that repeat in relationships
internal conflicts that create stress or confusion
feelings that may be hard to name, express, or understand
Together, we create a space where your thoughts, emotions, memories, and experiences can be understood in new ways. Therapy is not rushed; it unfolds gently, allowing deeper insight and meaningful transformation.
My approach is:
• Warm and attuned
I meet you with empathy, patience, and respect for your unique experiences.
• Culturally sensitive
Having worked closely with diverse communities, I welcome conversations around identity, migration, belonging, culture, religion, and transitions.
• Long-term and exploratory
Rather than offering quick fixes, we explore the roots of emotional patterns to support lasting change.
